Niagara-on-the-Lake | Destination Ontario

Ontario’s Niagara Region is the largest grape-growing region in Canada due to the perfect balance of soil conditions and micro-climate caused by the Niagara Escarpment Shield and Lake Ontario moisture. In fact, the region is home to several distinctive sub-appellations.

In between rolling vineyards, orchards and farm fields, charming communities dot the landscape, including Niagara-on-the-Lake, often coined the “prettiest town in Ontario.”

Parallel to the Niagara River, the Niagara River Parkway leads to one of the most famous waterfalls in the world, Niagara Falls. Sir Winston Churchill described this stretch of roadway as the “prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world,” and it remains just as scenic today. Well-preserved forts and engaging museums are fascinating reminders these were the front lines for the War of 1812.

Plan your trip to Niagara to include must-see attractions, as well as up-and-coming destination you won’t want to miss.

Famous for its spectacular set of waterfalls—the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and the American and Bridal Veil Falls on the U.S. side—Niagara Falls has also developed a reputation as the honeymoon capital of North America following the “bridal tour” of a US Vice President’s daughter in 1801.

There are seemingly endless things to do, see and savour year-round, including marvelling at the magnificent Falls from several vantage points and perspectives. Get the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass for discounted admission to select attractions,  heritage sites, restaurants and gift shops.
