Beaches
Ontario’s lakes, rivers and waterways offer a beach experience as varied as the landscapes that shaped them—wild and rugged in some places, calm and crystal clear in others. Canada is home to the most freshwater lakes in the world, and a significant portion are found in Ontario. This abundance of shoreline delivers equally diverse and beautiful beaches.
Explore dramatic, rocky coasts and ancient granite boulders, shaped by the waves and illuminated by the sun. Wander colourful pebbled coastlines and relax on soft, white stretches of beach met by shimmering waters.
Sink your toes into the warm, golden sand at Lake Erie’s Crystal Beach, the famous Sandbanks on Lake Ontario, Lake Huron’s Sauble Beach or Sandy Beach on Lake Superior.
Walk the longest freshwater beach in the world at Wasaga, plan a family vacation to one of several urban beaches or book a beachy-themed getaway along Ontario’s Great Lakes. And feel confident about the water quality and safety standards at designated Blue Flag Beaches across the province.
Wherever you go, keep your camera close, because from season to season and sunrise to sunset, Ontario’s beach life never stops showing off.
