The quaint downtown and lakeside vista of lovely coastline make the town of Bayfield a popular summer hotspot.

Visitors to the town of Bayfield are drawn to its beaches, boat rentals, pubs and picnic areas, and even a fall fair within close distance of Lake Huron.

Where is Bayfield?

Bayfield is nestled on the eastern shores of Lake Huron in southern Ontario, just a short drive from nearby Goderich on the Bluewater Highway (Highway 21). It is approximately 80 kilometres west of London and roughly 200 kilometres from Toronto.

The town can also be accessed by bus operated by Huron Shores Area Transit or by boat via the Harbour Lights Marina.

Things to do in Bayfield

Rent a boat or a canoe

Head down to the Harbour Lights Marina, Bayfield’s waterfront complex. Rent a boat or canoe and spend some time enjoying life on the water.

Drop by a local pub

Sample a selection of beers and cocktails at Black Dog Village Pub & Bistro, or try a bite of haggis during their annual Robert Burns Supper, which is held every January 25.

Shop at a market

The Bayfield Farmers’ Market offers local and organic produce, plus artisanal goods like maple syrup and ciders every Friday afternoon from May to October in Clan Gregor Square.

Visit a lakeside park

Take in the natural scenery of Bayfield by heading to Pioneer Park, located on the edge of a bluff overlooking Lake Huron. A large staircase leads to the sparkling blue waters.

Go to the beach

Spend the day frolicking on the sand and in the water at one of Bayfield’s three beaches: Pier Beach (the town’s main beach), Howard Beach or the more secluded Houston Heights Beach.

Have fun at the fair

Hosted by the Bayfield Agricultural Society, the annual Bayfield Fair is one of the town’s oldest traditions. Enjoy tractor displays, view the animals and sample delicious foods.
