Interesting facts about the Ontario Science Centre
For over 55 years, the Ontario Science Centre has sparked curiosity and inspired visitors to discover the wonders of science.
The original building broke new ground as one of the world’s first interactive science museums. Renowned Canadian architect Raymond Moriyama, celebrated for his innovative and sustainable designs, brought this vision to life.
The Centre’s grand opening on September 26, 1969, skipped the usual ribbon-cutting ceremony. Instead, scientists beamed a signal from a quasar 1.5 billion light-years away. The pulse struck a radio circuit, raising the curtain and officially unveiling the Ontario Science Centre.
