By fishing and hunting, communities are encouraged to actively participate in protecting and conserving resources and become stewards of the land.

Guided fishing at The Lodge at Red Rock

Chum Ruth is an active community and member of the Red Rock Indian Band located on Lake Helen. As a fishing guide at The Lodge at Red Rock, he shares his passion and culture with visitors on Nipigon River fishing trips.

Ruth practices and demonstrates catch and release angling, especially with the brook trout of his home waters.

Stillwater Fishing Charters and Tours

Owner, operator and fishing guide Brian Still is from Whitefish River First Nation. Based out of Birch Island, Stillwater Fishing operates in McGregor Bay, around Manitoulin Island, Killarney and into Baie Fine, one of the largest freshwater fjords in the world.

Still shares his angling and fly fishing skills, promoting sustainable fishing techniques.

In addition to fishing, Stillwater offers boat and paddling tours and runs Among the Trees, a geodome glamping site.

Wayeshkad Trapline Tours

Wayeshkad offers fascinating multi-day guided excursions demonstrating sustainable trapping, land and resource management and traditional Indigenous practices in the Canadian Shield.

Owner Sarah Sproule is a member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. She embraces her Ojibway ancestry and knowledge from her father in her guiding, trapping and hunting business. Respectfully using every part of the animals harvested. Wayeshkad produces quality mittens, hats and other items.

Book an Indigenous-led fishing or hunting experience in Northwest Ontario emphasizing First Nations heritage and traditions with expert local guide Gerald Arch.

While exploring the lake fishing, ask about the pictographs along the shores.

In addition, remote wilderness cabins on the coast of the Aulneau Peninsula in Lake of the Woods offer comfortable accommodations.

Guided bear hunting and fishing with Wesley Bow Guides

Join Wesley Bow Guides at their camp near The Chapleau Preserve. This remote camp holds a small number of hunters, giving guests the opportunity to quietly unwind or learn more from hosts Richard, Tammy and Lawrence Wesley.

Three home-cooked meals a day are included in your stay as well as comfortable accommodations and a camp sauna. Fishing near camp is top tier, making Wesley Bow Guides a great destination for a fishing and hunting trip.
