Many of these events feature trick-or-treating, Halloween-themed face painting, ghostly decorations and interactive entertainment to keep the kids entertained during this spooky season.

Here are some of the top Halloween events for kids in Ontario.

Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Spooktacular Light Show

Witness giant and colourful Halloween light displays during the Spooktacular Light Show.

This drive-through light exhibit takes you through awe-inspiring glow tunnels with strobe lights, interactive 2D and 3D displays and frightening and ghoulish exhibits. Stop for tasty treats and perfect Halloween selfies along the way.

This event will also be running in Pickering.

Details: Tickets for this event can be purchased online. You’ll need to download the Fever app and show your ticket at the gate.

Camp Spooky at Canada’s Wonderland

Camp Spooky brings special Halloween activities to the thrilling Canada’s Wonderland theme park, making this the perfect place for the little ones to enjoy Halloween.

Walk around the park and participate in a variety of family-friendly activities. Go trick-or-treating with Halloween characters, show off your costume in the kids’ Halloween parade and meet the PEANUTS gang like Snoopy and Charlie Brown during live shows.

In addition to the Camp Spooky events, experience the amazing activities at Canada’s Wonderland like riding on roller coasters and splashing in the water parks.

Boo at the Zoo

Kids love searching for candy during Boo at the Zoo at Safari Niagara, one of the top trick-or-treat events in the Niagara region.

This family-friendly event brings local retailers, businesses and vendors to zoo, with a wide selection of Halloween-themed products and services. Join the all-ages music and dance party. Children in costume can enter the Halloween costumes contest for the chance to win some great prizes.

Details: Admission for children is $19.95 or free if they’re wearing a costume. Adults and senior admission is also $19.95. You’re welcome to bring a non-perishable food donation, which Boo at the Zoo donates to local non-profit organizations.

Pumpkins After Dark

Stroll through a magical pathway of over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins and brilliant Halloween installations at Pumpkins After Dark.

Watch live pumpkin carving demonstrations, sample fall sweets and take Instagram-worthy pictures against stunning Halloween backdrops at this award-winning outdoor Halloween event. Keep your eyes open for classic Halloween characters, dragons and pop culture icons walking around the park.

Wednesdays are Pet Nights, so bring your furry friend to take in this Halloween festival together.

Details: Buy tickets online through the website. Tickets cost $19.95 for youths aged 4–16 and $22.95 for adults. Children three and under are free. Families can save with a family pack (two adults and two youths) for $80.80.

Pumpkins After Dark will also be taking place in Ottawa.

The Great Pumpkin Trail

Follow the glow of jack-o-lanterns along the Great Pumpkin Trail at the Royal Botanical Gardens. In addition to live entertainment, Halloween treats and activities, guests can enjoy the mini midway exhibition, complete with rides and inflatables.

Details: Don't miss this popular event. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Adults 13 and up $25 plus tax and service fee, children 4 to 12 $18 plus tax and fee, and infant/toddler up to 3 are free (registration and ticket still required).

Halloween & Harvest Village

Enjoy a Halloween family outing at Drysdale’s Haunted Harvest Village.

Ride a haunted wagon to the pumpkin patch, to search for the perfect pumpkin. Find everything you’ll need to decorate your pumpkin at The Evergreen Store on-site.

There’s plenty of fun games for the whole family, including a sand mountain, lawn games, train rides, marshmallow roasting, children’s zip line and more. Plan to visit in the evening for scarier activities, like the Psycho Path haunted wagon ride.

Details: This event runs every weekend during October. Admission during the day is $13.25 per person, free admission for children three and under. Nighttime admission is $20 per person.

StoryBOO!

Dress in your best Halloween costume and enjoy spooky delights after dark StoryBOO! park.

Ride on the Storybook rides, meet gravediggers, walk through the SkeleCircus black light maze and go trick-or-treating at the castle. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight.

Details: This event is free to attend.

Oxford Renaissance Festival

Learn about life during the Middle Ages on a visit to the Oxford Renaissance Festival's Family Day on October 15, 2023.

The event features brave knights jousting, aerial performers, swordplay and archery demonstrations, fire eaters, musicians and more. Kids are invited to wear their Halloween costume for a day filled with bouncy castles, face painting and lots more fun activities. There will also be opportunities to go trick-or-treating at the festival.

Details: Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Advanced ticket sales end October 13, 2023. Admission is free to kids under nine years old.

Ruthven Apple Festival

There’s lots for families to do at the Ruthven Apple Festival, where you can enjoy two days of fun. There will be over 100 craft and food vendors. Kids can enjoy the amusement park rides. Everyone can dance to the non-stop music entertainment.

Muskoka, Parry Sound and Algonquin Park

Halloween Spooktacular at Santa’s Village

Known for its themed rides and holiday decorations, Santa’s Village is also a great place to get in the Halloween spirit with its popular Halloween Spooktacular event.

The whole family is invited to dress up for this lively event. Take a ride on the spooky Halloween train, decorate a scarecrow and buy the best pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Spin through the air in pumpkin-themed pods and go trick-or-treating around the park. Santa’s helpers will be at the park dressed in their Halloween costumes and handing out candy.

Details: Halloween Spooktacular will be open every weekend in October. Buy your tickets online. Tickets cost $19.95 for everyone ages three and up.
