Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain
Just a short drive from the popular Blue Mountain Resort and the town of Collingwood, Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain is open year-round and offers visitors the ultimate slice of luxury. If you’re looking for total relaxation, you’ll undoubtedly find it in the property’s outdoor hydrotherapy pools, saunas, steam rooms, massage tables and walking paths. The spa’s setting amongst 10 hectares of natural forest offers further relaxation and features views of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Niagara Escarpment.
You can enjoy the spa’s three stages of relaxation and health. First, warm your body with steam rooms, hot baths and saunas. Then you’ll cool down with cold plunge baths, showers and waterfalls before relaxing in solariums, hammocks or near outdoor fireplaces. Together, these three steps are known to promote detoxification, cleansing and de-stressing.
Because of its surroundings, Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain promotes the popular treatment of ‘forest bathing.’ If you’re unfamiliar with this term, forest bathing is the term for walking through the forest and reaping the benefits of time spent in nature. This act alone is known to lower your stress, heart rate and blood pressure while boosting your mood and immune system.
You’ll find Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain in Grey County, near the shore of Nottawasaga Bay and within The Blue Mountains community. Set near the ski slopes of Blue Mountain Resort, the spa is about 160 km northwest of Toronto. By car, you can reach the facility in about two hours by heading north out of the city via Highway 10.

More about Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain
The award-winning Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain provides a luxurious experience where you can truly relax and unplug. The facility is set on 10 hectares of natural forest and features Ontario birch, pine and Canadian maple trees. Its natural surroundings and walking and cycling paths offer you additional opportunities to rejuvenate. You can also enjoy sweeping views of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve Niagara Escarpment, an expansive stretch of land connecting forests across southern Ontario.
The highlight of the spa is the hydrotherapy facilities. You’ll find outdoor baths of varying temperatures where you can soak and soothe your body. While relaxing in hot water, a eucalyptus steam room or saunas, you’ll reduce blood pressure and increase blood flow to the skin and muscles. Your time in these warm environments will also cleanse your skin and lower stress. Besides hot baths, you can enjoy a eucalyptus steam bath, a Finnish sauna and an infrared sauna.
When finished warming your body, you’re encouraged to take the next step with a quick and cold rinse. You’ll find a Nordic waterfall, showers and cold plunge baths. Or, in the winter, cool off with a quick roll in the snow! A swift blast of chilly temperatures will close pores and increase your heart rate while releasing endorphins. It provides an ideal transition to the final relaxation stage, which takes you to solariums, outdoor fireplaces, hammocks or Muskoka chairs around the serene property.
Other facilities at the Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain include a Bistro, boutique and massage services. Massages are an excellent complement to hydrotherapy as they further the relaxation benefits and improve blood circulation. Massages also reduce pain and inflammation, lower stress and decrease muscle tension. You can choose between several kinds of massage at the spa, including relaxing varieties like Swedish massage and deep-tissue Therapeutic Massage.
Because the Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain is so close to the area’s Blue Mountain Resort, many choose to combine the two experiences. You can stay at the alpine resort in one of the various lodgings and enjoy outdoor recreation opportunities. You can hike, cycle, paddle or play a round of golf. Those who prefer to relax can peruse the shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Kids love the playgrounds, aquatic centre and gondola. Several ski lifts open in the winter, and the resort offers sledding, ice skating, sleigh rides and snowshoeing.
Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain is near one of the region’s most popular recreation areas, Scenic Caves Nature Adventures. Here you can enjoy caving and canyoning trails that reach depths of 20+ metres. Hiking and walking trails allow you to stretch your legs and continue your forest bathing. One trail crosses a suspension bridge and offers views of Nottawasaga Bay.
If you’re looking for other hiking and cycling trails, The Blue Mountains area has plenty of options. Pretty River Valley Provincial Park, Duncan Escarpment Provincial Nature Reserve and Craigleith Provincial Park are great places to start.
You can also enjoy lounging on beaches or exploring cultural venues if you’re interested in The Blue Mountains’ history. You’ll find the Sheffield Park Black History and Cultural Museum in Thornbury, along with several art galleries and boutiques. The Craigleith Heritage Depot overlooks Nottawasaga Bay and includes a fine-dining restaurant.
If you’re a foodie and want to try some local specialties, you’ll find tastings and tours at the area’s wineries. There’s also a self-guided local food tour called the Apple Pie Trail. This culinary adventure meanders through the numerous neighbourhoods of The Blue Mountains and makes quick stops at bakeries, cideries, farms and cafes. Enjoying local treats is a great way to learn about the region’s apple industry.
