Interesting facts about Evergreen Brick Works

The Don Valley Brick Works opened in 1889. Changing hands through the decades, the mass-producing brick factory operated until 1991.

Initially, Toronto had planned to tear down the buildings and replace them with housing. When the idea was scrapped, the not-for-profit organization Evergreen purchased the site with the intent of repurposing the buildings into revitalizing urban spaces.

Since its opening in 2010, the award-winning Evergreen Brick Works has been leading the charge for a more sustainable future for cities worldwide.
