About the organization

Destination Ontario is the lead tourism marketing organization for Ontario, Canada. We market Ontario to travellers from around the world, inspiring them to make Ontario a must-see destination and to return again and again.  

Working collaboratively with our tourism partners is key to our success. We support our partners through content and product amplification, joint partnerships and delivering a visitor-first approach to our marketing. 

Established in 1999, Destination Ontario, legally the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, is an agency of the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

The organization is supported by staff at the corporate office in Toronto and in Northern Ontario. Our teams also staff nine Ontario tourism offices across the province.

Destination Ontario Summer Student Tourism Ambassador

This summer, join our team and help visitors discover Ontario. Work as a Destination Ontario Summer Student Tourism Ambassador and learn about travel experiences across Ontario – from thrilling attractions to natural wonders and urban adventures. Share your knowledge and passion with locals and visitors to Ontario to help them have unforgettable travel experiences in our province.

About Ontario Travel Information Services

  • Part of Destination Ontario, an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport
  • A team of knowledgeable Travel Counsellors that provides customized travel information, trip planning and visitor services to locals and visitors to Ontario
  • Delivers visitor information services across multiple channels including in-person at 9 Ontario Travel Information Centres (OTICs) throughout Ontario, the 1800-Ontario toll-free tourism number, virtually using video conferencing, by e-mail, and through roaming visitor information services at events, attractions and tourist areas

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong customer service skills through job, educational and/or voluntary experiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • General knowledge of the geography of Ontario
  • Passion for travel and tourism
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Retail experience is an asset
  • Fluency/knowledge of a second language is an asset 

Eligibility

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time study program (high school, university, college, etc.) and intend on returning to school in Fall 2024 or be within 6 months of graduation from a post-secondary institution
  • Canadian citizen, or be legally entitled to work in Canada (minimum 15-year-old to work in Ontario) 
  • Available to work May/June to Labour Day 
  • Available to work up to 35 hours/week on weekdays and weekends with some evenings, including statutory holidays
