St. Catharines is the largest city in the Niagara Region and has been nicknamed the “Garden City” due to its many gardens, parks and trails. There are at least four square kilometres of green space within city limits.

In addition to vast natural spaces, you’ll find interesting museums, theatres and art galleries, as well as great shopping and dining opportunities.

Where is St. Catharines?

The city of St. Catharines is located in Southern Ontario, approximately 100 kilometres from Toronto, 55 kilometres from Hamilton and 20 kilometres inland from Niagara Falls and the nearest U.S. border crossing.

The city sits along the commuter route between Toronto and Niagara Falls, via the Queen Elizabeth Way. GO Transit and VIA Rail also provide service to St. Catharines and the surrounding area.

Ride an antique carousel

Lakeside Park, near the Port Dalhousie Marina, offers a chance to ride an antique carousel hand-carved from 1898 to 1905. The port was once the main terminal for the Welland Canal.

Comprised of Upper DeCew and Lower DeCew Falls, the 22-metre tall DeCew Falls can be viewed from the heritage Morningstar Mill historic grist mill, accessible by hiking trail.
