The historical town of St. Marys was settled in the 1840s and sits at the junction of the Thames River and Trout Creek.

Known for picturesque views and limestone architecture, the town features a charming, walkable downtown with streets lined with cafes, antique stores and more.

Those looking for outdoor activities will find them with hiking trails, including one that leads to the town’s old limestone quarry, plus areas for canoeing, kayaking and fishing.

The town is also home to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, celebrating the lives of 150 baseball players who’ve made their mark on the Canadian sport.

Where is St. Marys?

St. Marys is located in southwestern Ontario, bordered by the Township of Perth South in Perth County. The town is situated approximately 20 kilometres from nearby Stratford and 170 kilometres southwest of the Greater Toronto Area.

The town is most easily reached by car, although VIA Rail and GO Transit both offer rail service to St. Marys’ station. Limited local bus service is also available with Perth County Connect.

Hike a historic trail

Spend a day hiking the historic Grand Trunk Trail or Riverview Walkway, a 2.4-kilometre trail that traces the Thames River from the heart of town all the way to the limestone quarry.

Camp in a conservation area

Head to Wildwood Conservation Area for a camping getaway. Wildwood offers boating, fishing and hiking opportunities, along with an outdoor swimming pool.
