Food and drink
Stratford’s dining scene keeps evolving, thanks to the bounty of locally-grown ingredients, innovative culinary talent, and the influences of international cuisines. If you’d like to keep your meal casual or feel like splurging or just seek a small bite to eat, options are plentiful.

Outdoors
It’s easy to find nature in Stratford. The Shakespearean Gardens has many varieties of herbs, flowers and shrubs that are all mentioned in the Bard’s plays. Arthur Meighen Gardens are adorned with rose arbours and water pools. Millennium Park is an outdoor sculpture garden that provides a moment of Zen with water and ornamental plantings and fountains.
Upper Queen’s Park follows along the Avon River and Stratford’s legislative buildings, and it’s near a pond where you might spot ducks and swans.
The T.J. Dolan Trail surrounds the Festival Theatre and the Avon River as a north and south river trail loop. The Avon Trail passes near Stratford and has an offshoot known as the Stratford Side Trail running 13.4 km along the south edge of the Avon River through Stratford.
Golfers can practice their techniques at Stratford Municipal Golf Course, Stratford Country Club, St. Marys Golf & Country Club and Mitchell Golf and Country Club.
Arts and culture
The Stratford Festival takes centre stage as North America’s largest classical repertory theatre company. Be entertained by classic and modern takes on works by William Shakespeare along with dramas and musicals. Go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue and see some of their elaborate costumes.
Stratford has a number of fine art galleries with regular exhibits. Based inside a former pump house, Gallery Stratford puts its focus on regional and Canadian art. Street art can also be found throughout Stratford.
The Stratford Perth Museum honours local history and community with over 20,000 artifacts that bring the past to life, such as those showcasing its time as a hub for the Grand Trunk Railroad.
